Net-Metering
Net-metering is a unique utility program where excess electricity produced by your solar system gets paid to you.
This means you are able to offset ALL of your energy use and not have to pay for electricity again! This is a rare incentive, and Minnesota currently has it mandated. As other high adopting states indicate, once there is a certain threshold of solar installations reached, net-metering is typically removed.
However, When you go solar, you are grandfathered in to your current metering policies.

Xcel Red-Zones Limited Availability
Xcel has limited capacity for residential solar. Once an area is placed in a red zone, you lose the opportunity to go solar. This means that you could potentially miss out on massive incentives like net-metering and Solar Rewards.
